We often saw small scale retailers bringing customers to their shops by yelling at them loudly about the commodities and discounts. On YouTube 6 Tamil brothers are yelling at the viewers through their mouth-watering dishes, from a pleasant village known as Chinna veeramangalam, situated in Tamil Nadu. 

Cooking channels on Youtube seems to be highly attractive. There are a lot of Cooking channels now streaming on YouTube. The pleasant tone of the village and the delightful greeting from the brothers, in their mother tongue “ellarum vangee” (which means “All are welcome” in Tamil) add-on extra beauty to the videos. The channel hit about 6 million subscribers in a short span, now made the Chinna veeramangalam village from the pudukkottai district notable to the world.

                        

 The 5 brothers V. Subramanian, V.Murukeshan, V.Ayyanar, V.Tamilselvan, V.Muthumani, and their grandfather M.Periyathambi together run the YouTube channel. The family is well known in the village as chef Periyathambi’s family for years. One of the brothers (V.Subramanian) who had an MPhil in Commerce formulated this idea to start a Youtube channel. He conveyed this idea to his cousins who were doing customary jobs to earn money and dreaming of heading abroad finally cooperated with  Subramanian. The central idea of this channel was to introduce Periyathambi’s delicious food and their traditions to the world.

 

The camera beautifully  portrayed the delicious foods along with the natural beauty of the village. The food is prepared traditionally using traditional equipment like stone hearth and stone grinder to cook and grind in the center of the green field makes the channel outstanding from others.The ingredients for the cuisines are traditionally prepared by the family without adding any preservatives or chemicals is explained every time while using it. The family used to cook for more than 100 people with the administration of Periyathambi, now distributes the food made during the show to the children and orphanages of the village. These brothers earn 10 lakhs per month from their YouTube channel. Apart from the Youtube channel the brothers also earn from Facebook and other social media platforms. Monthly 2 to 3 lakhs are spent on the shooting. The rest of the revenue is divided equally among the brothers.

 Chinnaveeramangalam Mattu Pongal festival was the video recently published by the channel, which received 71500 viewers in 16 hours. There are several channels now launched in various languages by imitating the Village cooking channel, But the duplicate ones never be a competitor for the original. The Village channel used to release about 2 to 3 videos before the Covid pandemic, now releasing 1 video per week disappointed the fans out there.
