Red Hat gifts an Extended Life for RHCSS and RHCDS – Wow!

It is a day, one that will bring a smile for many. A news to enlighten year 2014 is here. The much demanding Red Hat Certified Security Specialist (RHCSS) and Red Hat Certified Datacenter Specialist (RHCDS) certifications that was earlier announced to phase out when 2013 dims out, has been given an extended life by Red Hat . Wow! Say wow!

As per news release to Red Hat training partners today morning, Red Hat Certificate of Expertise in SELinux Policy Authentication (EX 429) will no longer be available after February 28 2014.

However, Red Hat India decided to extend RHCSS until February 28 2014 and RHCDS will exist until RHEL 7 gets officially released – on conditions listed below :-

Red Hat Certfied Security Specialist

A candidate who pass Red Hat Certificate of Expertise in SELinux Policy Authentication (EX 429) to meet the requirements set by the RHCSS program (Pass for Red Hat Certificate of Expertise in Directory Services and Authentication (EX 423) and Red Hat Certificate of Expertise in Security: Network Services (EX 333) before December 31) will be able to acquire the Red Hat Certified Security Specialist status.

Apparently, candidates who have passed either of Red Hat Certificate of Expertise in Directory Services and Authentication (EX 423) or Red Hat Certificate of Expertise in Security: Network Services (EX 333), can still achieve the status to become RHCSS before February 28 2014, by passing Red Hat Certificate of Expertise in SELinux Policy Authentication (EX 429) and Red Hat Certificate of Expertise in Server Hardening (EX 413).
